St. Patrick's day is coming up and our group decided to spend it golfing. In honor of St. Patricks day we were planning on having some fun instead of taking it too serious. The idea was thrown around was beer-a-hole golf, but drinking 18 beers in 3-4hrs might be a bit much for some. Most of the cities that celebrate it have or had a large Irish Catholic population. St. Patrick's day falls during Lent, a part of the year where adherents would avoid vices like alcohol and meat on Fridays. On St. Patrick's day, Irish Catholics were allowed to break Lent, which is why they might drink fervently. I would fly St. Patrick's day solo -- I used to have a drinking buddy who's birthday was St. Patrick's day so we'd get together before she moved away but I would have a drink or two with her and secretly try to book it home to get the real party started.
